ABSTRACT

Charlotte H. Talbot Coke (1843–c. 1922) was a leading authority on home décor, most closely associated with the magazine Hearth and Home. Hearth and Home (1891–1914), subtitled An Illustrated Weekly Journal for Gentlewomen, was aimed at an audience of middle-class women. Generously illustrated, it offered articles and advice on establishing and running a home, gardening, domestic management, fashion and crafts.
