The application of plasterwork to interiors has a long and varied history. In the nineteenth century it has become a stock-in-trade for decorating rooms. The development of plaster moulds for cornices, friezes and ceiling roses meant that these forms of decoration became more affordable and the development of two particular forms (papier-mâché and fibrous plaster) encouraged further use.
