ABSTRACT

This chapter forms the conclusion to the book and summarises the main findings. The main purpose of this volume has been to examine the relationship between differentiation and domination in multilevel EU, with particular emphasis on the EU’s various crises (poly-crises) during the last one and a half decades – from the financial crisis of 2008 to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The book has shown that, while there is a comprehensive debate on differentiation in the EU setting, the debate has not been sufficiently well linked up with the important issue of domination. The conclusion outlines the main theoretical and empirical findings that the chapters of the book have provided with regard to the complex relationship between differentiation and domination. This includes pointing to both the similarities and the differences between the EU’s different crises.
