ABSTRACT

Global conferences are convened regularly by the UN. Special sessions of the General Assembly assess progress achieved in the implementation of conference action plans. Numerous conferences and other meetings originally planned for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled or rescheduled owing to the COVID-19 emer-gency; others were convened in a videoconference format. The following events were scheduled for 2022:

Climate-Sustainable Development Goals Synergies Confer-ence (March: Tokyo, Japan);

5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, first phase (March: New York, USA);

UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda (April: New York);

UN Biodiversity Conference, 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, second phase (April–May: Kunming, People’s Republic of China);

UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (April–May: New York);

15th COP of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (May: Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire);

International Migration Review Forum (May: New York);

Second UN Ocean Conference (June–July: Lisbon, Portugal-hosted jointly by Portugal and Kenya);

10th Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (Aug.: New York);

High-level Political Forum (July: New York);

World Cities Summit (July–August: Singapore);

Transforming Education Summit (September: New York).
