ABSTRACT

The increasing frequency of disasters caused by natural hazards has necessitated the use of technology in disaster preparedness for cultural properties. This chapter delves into the utilisation of advanced technologies, such as 3D documentation and machine learning, for managing cultural heritage during disasters. 3D documentation allows for rapid and safe damage assessment, predicting disasters, and reconstruction of lost structures, while machine learning techniques aid in monitoring and detecting potential threats. By using these technologies in combination with remote sensing and social media, professionals can more effectively monitor cultural heritage sites, assess damage, and prevent further loss of invaluable cultural properties.
