ABSTRACT

In the analysis of children communication takes place through dramatization, play, drawings and narrations, understood as derived from the daytime oneiric thought of the analysand to be “re-dreamed” together with the analyst based on his availability and openness for listening. To be able to “re-dream”, to reorganize the emotional elements staged in the session, the analyst must have a sufficient oneiric repertoire of emotional experiences already metabolized. Construction and amplification of psychic containment and transformations in dreams in the analysis of children is developed in this chapter. It is fundamental that there be an evaluation of the conditions of the psychical apparatus of the analysand for “thinking” reality, which Bion names the alpha function, that allows the transformation of protosensorial and protoemotional elements (beta elements) into psychic representations with emotional meanings.
