ABSTRACT

Folch’s research was imbued with Bion’s thought. The way the analyst is affected by and responds to the patient is put between two polar opposites: the logical and the lyrical as aspects of schizoid-paranoid and depressive mental organization and the oscillation between them (Ps⇔D). It is highlighted by Folch’s critical capacity calling into question idolatrous idealizations. The chapter ends with a schema for positive and negative Ps⇔D oscillations based on the one hand on binocular vision and on the other on the sectorial Approach—Perspective reversal, a schema he explains in detail and with which he sets out to answer some questions and raise many more.
