ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to explain the importance of non-mentalized sensoriality, in the creation of initial musical ideas, out of which the composer will gradually develop his increasingly complex technique. Bion introduced the idea of the infinite—finite axis. Transformation in O (TO) can be regarded as a movement on the infinite—finite axis and, therefore, each thought is considered a conquest from the dark and formless infinite: a powerful, vital world that imparts life and from which human creativity is nourished. It concludes with a musical composition, initially only an intuition linked to a deep unconscious, which grew in meaning and significance by contributions to other people in a process of evolution.
