ABSTRACT

In a globalized world, every student of the nonprofit sector must understand how it operates in different countries and in the international arena. Many of our graduates will end up working in international organizations or in other countries. Even those who work more locally will regularly encounter colleagues from around the world as part of professional networks and exchanges, or they may find that their own organizations are extending their reach beyond national borders. Some will work in organizations with immigrant colleagues and clients whose experiences with the nonprofit sector is from their home country. They will read commentary about the sector by authors from a wide array of political-cultural traditions. It is therefore incumbent on all nonprofit education programs to address global issues in their course curricula.
