ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces an overview of this interdisciplinary and insightful edited collection. It does so by highlighting the three key themes which include (i) policy, curriculum and pedagogy, (ii) psychology of food and (iii) sociology of food. These make up the key debates within the book and highlight the influence of different ways of thinking which have the potential of informing food futures. The focus on education is particularly important here as we see school as a microcosm of society and a way into shaping the minds of future generations and change makers. This chapter provides an overview of each chapter which guides the reader through making key connections. The research produced in this collection is only part of the growing work on food futures, and much more coverage is needed. This book begins to scratch beneath the surface by shining a light on key issues and discourses.
