ABSTRACT

Schools are an important setting for learning and development. We describe how nutrition and sustainability concepts are edified in schools and recommend transformative education in these discourses. Refreshed and re-imagined perspectives are discussed in this chapter, moving away from conservative approaches of healthism, recognising educators’ needs and perspectives in pedagogical stances, and supercharging children’s agency in school learning and participation. A bifocal lens encompassing both nutritional and environmental agendas is a step in the right direction to realise the health co-benefits of children making environmentally friendly food choices.
