ABSTRACT

Within the context of sport injury management, professional practice models can guide and inform practitioners’ work with injured athletes. Despite their perceived importance, references to professional practice models have only recently appeared in the sport injury psychology literature. This chapter aims to highlight the importance of interprofessional practice in sport injury rehabilitation. The chapter outlines existing sport injury–specific interprofessional practice models, explains the process of setting up an interprofessional team in sport injury and rehabilitation, and summarizes the benefits and critical success factors in adopting an interprofessional approach to sport injury and rehabilitation.
