ABSTRACT
In this chapter, nursing students will explore the nature of intellectual disabilities and their relationship to intellectual disability nursing. The content of this chapter is contextualised within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of the United Kingdom and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) standards and requirements for competence.
