ABSTRACT
In this chapter, students of nursing will explore the nature of intellectual disabilities throughout the lifespan and its relationship to intellectual disability nursing. This will be contextualised within the Nursing and Midwifery Council for the United Kingdom and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland standards and requirements for competence.
