ABSTRACT

This chapter explores key competencies, skills, and the knowledge base required for intellectual disability nurses working in a range of forensic settings. Explicit links will be made to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)’s Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency For Registered Nurses, and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) domains of competences for entry to the professional register for nurses that demonstrate how these prepare nurses to care for people with forensic health and social care needs.
