ABSTRACT

This chapter encounters Gandhiji's ideas on social, economic and political structuring first time combined in the pamphlet he wrote in 1909, titled Hind Swaraj. The constitution of Aundh, a solitary experiment with a limited coverage followed Gandhiji's philosophy in accepting the village as the basic unit and gave every citizen, subject to regard to public morality and nonviolence, right to life, freedom of expression, equality before law, right to free basic education and right to employment.
