ABSTRACT

In part II, Dr. Nicole Dezrea Jenkins expands on her experience as a Black child of an incarcerated parent after realizing this identity impacted her career trajectory. She continues to write about the intersectionality of her identities as a Black child of an incarcerated parent, Air Force Military Police Officer, NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge) of Confinement at the Air Force Installation, mother, and Ph.D. graduate. Throughout each title, she details her struggles and the pathways she took to overcome them. She closes the chapter with her present-day reality, and readers will learn how she embraces all of her identities and offers advice to those with similar experiences.
