ABSTRACT

Implementation of healthcare innovations is widely acknowledged as a highly complex process involving a variety of factors on multiple levels (Glasgow, Phillips, & Sanchez, 2014; Ross et al., 2016; Greenhalgh et al., 2017; van Gemert-Pijnen, 2022), as is shown in Chapter 13 of this book. Effective implementation entails much more than the mere launch of a self-management app for patients, a patient website, or a multi-user digital platform. It requires thorough and timely systematic attention for the implications of technology-mediated services for individuals, healthcare, and the society at large.
