ABSTRACT
Worldwide, the population is ageing, more people have one or multiple chronic condition(s), and healthcare costs are increasing. This in turn causes an increased demand on healthcare services and rising concerns related to the shortage of healthcare personnel. The pressure on the healthcare system is mounting, and transformation is inevitable to meet up to those challenges. The use of eHealth technologies is very promising, for example to deliver more care in the home setting. In this chapter, we provide an update on digital transformation in healthcare, with a specific focus on hospital care.
