ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we examine the various career paths that organisational psychologists (OPs) can take, and discuss whether it is better to start your career as a generalist or a specialist. The chapter then looks at the qualities and characteristics needed to succeed in the field, such as the importance of building and nurturing your professional relationships. There is advice for finding your first job in OP and the chapter finishes with a look at the British Psychological Society Qualification in Occupational Psychology (QOP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration process.
