ABSTRACT

This chapter is helpful for anyone interested into the application of foresight, as it outlines seven principles one should consider when working with strategic foresight. Those principles, however, do not get solely declared but also explained. Thereby, it becomes clear why those matter and how they eventually affect the outcomes of strategic foresight. Furthermore, Schwarz introduces some pitfalls in implementing foresight and thus call for caution when doing so. By naming pitfalls and principles of conducting strategic foresight, this chapter perfectly supports practitioners who are to implement strategic foresight or who are to improve their current practice. If they take care of those recommendations, they can bring forward meaningful strategic foresight deliverables.
