ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the delivery of sport at the community level. The chapter commences by exploring what is meant by the term community sport and examining how it is delivered across various contexts. An emphasis is then placed on considering the ways in which programming can be designed to be inclusive of a range of people from different backgrounds. Junior sport considerations are then discussed, with particular attention being paid to the role of modified rules in junior sport contexts. A focus is then placed on describing the role and contribution of coaches and officials in the delivery of community sport. The chapter concludes with practical examples of community sport development in practice.
