ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces emotions, what they are and how they work especially from the cognitive psychology standpoint. It analyses the mutual influence of cognitive processes and emotions. The final objective is to reflect on how we can better deal with them in the museum setting. For instance, the emotion regulation is one of the concepts to be explored when designing an exhibition. Environmental and cultural factors are also considered to provide a better comprehension of these affects for the benefit of visitors.

Emotions are one of the vital aspects of our wellbeing and are the first element which connects us to our cultural heritage and museums. Thus they are the first to be addressed in the BFM book.
