ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to give an idea of how museums are active and willing to improve wellbeing in their communities around the world. Some data on the impact of museums on people and examples to briefly explore art therapy, “slow looking” (Slow Art Day), and mindfulness are shared. The chapter also mentions initiatives born from collaborations between hospitals and museums.

The BFM approach proposes to develop more wellbeing-related events taking advantage of psychological techniques and theories, and measuring the impact of these initiatives (also the ones already offered by museums) by means of the neuroscience tools introduced in chapter 7.
