ABSTRACT

This chapter lays out the Social Equity MPA Capstone Model developed at Rutgers University-Camden. In doing so, it makes a case for capstones as a bridging site for the study and practice of social equity within Public Administration (PA). This work is contextualized through discussions of (a) the purpose and format of capstones, (b) the use of social equity within PA, (c) the history of social inequity within PA, and (d) the challenges of measuring social equity. It describes the structure and assignments of the Social Equity MPA Capstone Model, with a focus on supporting the use of social equity within capstone projects by (1) making the domain visible through research methods, and (2) providing individualized support for capstone projects.
