ABSTRACT

The oil and gas sector creates opportunities for employment, drives technology and research, and boosts local businesses. It encompasses a range of distinctive actions and procedures. These actions and procedures conjointly add to the conversion of basic crude oil into utilisable finished products. Whilst the prospects and opportunities presented by the oil and gas sector may be far-reaching, there are major issues concerning the design of successful oil and gas products which can be satisfied through project management. Project management is a useful tool for countries specifically because it deals with the use of result-oriented processes to meet the demands of every project and their stakeholders. The sections of this study provide a brief historical background to the exploration of oil and gas and presents a snapshot of the utilisation of project management within the petroleum resources subdivision including the critical role of requirements management in ensuring the success of oil and gas projects.
