ABSTRACT

Petrochemicals comprise all chemical products derived from refining petroleum. Their main development can be sourced from the vast emergence of raw materials from oil reserves though there are other sectors from which they originate. They are utilised in cars, packaging, medical equipment, paints, clothing, and building, among others. Oil and natural gas are currently the primary considerations for any country that wishes to expand its industrial potential, nurture its growth, improve the standard of living of its citizenry, and boost exports to yield a good balance of payment position. Petrochemical feedstock accounts for over 12% of the global oil demand. This percentage is expected to increase due to the need for plastics, fertilisers, and other products, especially in developing economies. Assessing the relative price of natural gas manifests the competitiveness of US petrochemical companies, and the wider the promulgation, the more merit the world should realise from ethane.
