ABSTRACT

In this text, my overall objective is to examine how the increased vulnerability of Mexican migrants has been faced since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Ever since Trump’s campaign, Mexicans became the focus of anti-immigrant discourse. His arrival to the presidency created a moment quite particular both for bilateral relations as well as for protective strategies toward the Mexican population in the United States. In this chapter, my interest is to answer the question of how consular officials have responded to a more hostile policy toward Mexican migrants since the beginning of that administration.
