ABSTRACT

In 2012, The Hunger Games series made headlines for outselling all the Harry Potter books. One of the most popular discourses about The Hunger Games series is its depiction of violence and whether it is appropriate for children of a specific age. This debate became one of the major arguments surrounding what it means to be a ‘young adult’, what can be the ages which can successfully cordon off the ‘young adult’ category and what is the nature of this audience that would emerge from such a categorization. Young adult dystopias continue to resurface in stories of protests all over the world. Online affinityscapes work on a contribution economy that depends on articulation, that is, an economy of producing, sharing, and receiving not just information but also knowledge, experiences, skills, and insights, giving rise to a collective intelligence.
