ABSTRACT

You are an immaterial soul who has lived infinitely many lives in the past and will live infinitely many lives in the future. You exist at all times; between lifetimes, you merely exist as a disembodied, unconscious soul. In this chapter, I sketch some of the arguments for believing in souls, the argument for reincarnation, and some ethical implications of this view of persons. This view explains why death is bad for you, how a person can be helped or harmed after death, and why you have extremely strong moral reasons to procreate.
