Introduction

Children are one of the most vulnerable groups in our society. The challenges and the nature of vulnerability are more severe for the children when they are from marginalised sections of the society. The difficulties faced by children during the COVID-19 pandemic were diverse in nature and therefore there is a need to look at these issues from multiple perspectives. With the help of secondary data sources, this chapter attempts to contextualise the issues and challenges faced by the children in India and thus positioned the objectives of the book. The chapter highlighted the themes of all other chapters and their major concerns.
