This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part provides observations and new practices consistent with the epistemological principles of Gestalt therapy, in support of psychotherapists and care-giving professionals, who are performing a crucial task in the alleviation of the suffering caused by the pandemic. It deals with widespread clinical situations linked to various professional settings particularly affected by the pandemic. The part focuses on the autistic spectrum disorder, referring particularly to the Camouflage effect. It introduces one of the most common types of malaise in Western society: social phobia among adolescents. The part deals with the relationship with the chronic patient, in which the ability to accept and support on the part of the therapist becomes essential.
