ABSTRACT

Being an ally is often a term that is overused and misunderstood. Recognizing Pride Month, having a gay friend or waving a rainbow flag is NOT what allyship is about. In a world that is so critical of who one may love, what's between their legs and how this may differ from what's on a birth certificate from 50 years ago; the last thing we need is a closeted ally. If you’re truly about inclusivity, safe, affirming spaces and social justice for all, create and support businesses and legislation that can create effective change. After all, if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. This chapter is about the journey one woman took using her passion and vision to make actionable steps toward influencing global change in the field of sexuality.
