ABSTRACT

Well-being is vital in every aspect of life, especially in our professional lives. Acknowledging this, English language teachers have created communities of practice (CoPs), often called English Language Teachers’ Associations (ELTAs), to create opportunities to explore and engage in well-being. CoPs are defined by Wenger-Trayner and Wenger-Trayner (2021) as “groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly” (para. 3). English language teachers share this passion, and they have created formal ELTAs as early as 1903 to come together and support each other through organized events and initiatives. This chapter will highlight events organized by ELTAs during the COVID pandemic that supported the well-being of English language teachers. Furthermore, the author will share some thoughts about the effects of such events on English teachers’ well-being and how these events will be shaped in the future.
