ABSTRACT

This chapter studies the development and future research agendas for digital transformation in aviation, tourism, and hospitality in Southeast Asia. Also, this chapter addresses the importance of digital transformation in responding to any technological, managerial, and marketing disruptions in aviation, tourism, and hospitality. This study adopts an abductive approach which utilizes content analysis of related academic literature and industry reports. The chapter starts with presenting the global industry analysis on the aviation tourism in Southeast Asia, followed by a discussion on technological, managerial, and marketing issues in aviation, tourism, and hospitality in the Southeast Asia region. This chapter then highlights the future challenges in relation to digital transformation and technology advancement in aviation, tourism, and hospitality. This study recommends four key technologies as the future challenges in Southeast Asia, namely cloud computing, cybersecurity, automation, big data, and analytics.
