ABSTRACT
This introduction sets the scene for questioning the choice of salvage law as the appropriate legal regulatory framework for environmental services in salvage operations. It sets the basic premise that environmental services in the context of salvage operations should be viewed from a perspective in which environmental protection values are regarded as fundamental.
