ABSTRACT

Implementation science aims to bridge the gap between research evidence and practical applications, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for individuals, communities and societies. However, researchers in the field have increasingly critiqued numerous approaches and the impact of the field. This chapter builds on these critiques, bringing in the perspective of professionals who synthesize and translate implementation science for those doing implementation practice and attempting to bridge the research and practice of implementation. The chapter reflects on five broad themes where there are opportunities for improvement in the field of implementation science.
