ABSTRACT

The main goal of this chapter is to examine how blockchain could be used in adjusting education to the labour market challenges. A constantly changing labour market expects education to adapt in order to equip employees with adequate skills and competencies. This requires the systematic control of the creation, distribution, usage, maintenance, and the long-term archiving of recorded data, including competence and skills management. Students’ records should be traceable, which will facilitate the search and verification of the competencies and skills by potential employees. Blockchain is one of the technologies that may support this record management, additionally ensuring their credibility. In short, this chapter presents the problems faced by higher education with the adjustment to labour market needs and discusses how blockchain can be used to address the identified issues and challenges.
