ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the multi-sided connectivity of the Pyla-Kokkinokremos settlement as detected in the pottery material. Several cases of imports are presented as examples of different regions of the Eastern Mediterranean. Additionally, based on recent pottery analyses, some chronological matters have been updated and will be discussed here shortly. Pyla-Kokkinokremos is a special case of a Cypriot settlement dated to the thirteenth century BCE and located at a spot of great significance near the sea. The coastal location played a role in the development of the economy through overseas trade. The different types of vessels illustrate the nature of relations between Cyprus and other areas in the Mediterranean. The areas involved and presented here are mainland Greece, Crete, Egypt, the Levant and Sardinia. In the present volume, Francesca Porta (Chapter 14) also discusses those networks through the pithoi from Pyla-Kokkinokremos.
