ABSTRACT

This chapter presents preliminary results of petrographic analyses done on some Late Bronze Age pithoi from the site of Pyla-Kokkinokremos on Cyprus. The analyses allowed for the identification of a few imported pieces, the origin of which is elsewhere on Cyprus or even outside the island. These results are particularly relevant considering the general low circulation of pithoi in contrast to other types of vessels. Imported pithoi are then used to discuss the multiple interconnections in which Pyla-Kokkinokremos was involved, both at the local Cypriot level and in long-distance sea networks.
