ABSTRACT

The lockdown due to Covid-19 brought back vivid memories of my mother. I lost her to cancer in 2018. She spent most of her life indoors, cooking and taking care of the family. Many women in Indian society spend their entire lives in a sort of quarantine at home. Even though I am educated, while working and being at home I struggle with my own identities, my choices, and my idea of independence. I try to stay firm and push my boundaries, solve the puzzles in life, and try to mark my footprints. Sometimes, I feel helpless and tired, since I know I am not completely free from the eyes of society watching me incessantly. The fight is always on and will continue, but I carry hope because I know the fight is worth it.
