ABSTRACT

Decades of neo-liberal economic policies have depended on uncritical commitments to economic growth, which have also resulted in poverty, high rates of homelessness, and suicide plus unemployment, or an emphasis on work which is underpaid and gives little personal reward. Alternative, non-capitalist ways of thinking and acting would include the design of a universal basic income, a fostering of work which builds communities and a commitment to non-violence in every sphere of domestic and foreign policies.
