ABSTRACT

In the opening chapter, the author introduces this edited volume that aims to explore the singularity of embodiment and somatic approaches in the healing of trauma from a dramatherapy, theatre and performance perspective. The author identifies a lack of research on the use of the body in the healing of trauma in dramatherapy, and on the intersection of dramatherapy and body-based approaches in theatre and performance, and its application to the field of trauma. The author introduces the structure of the book and provides a summary for each chapter. This chapter concludes by highlighting the main contributions of the book to the field of trauma and embodied healing from a dramatherapy, theatre and performance perspective. It also emphasises its unique interdisciplinary and intercultural approach.
