ABSTRACT

Numerous comparative evaluations and international reports emphasise the importance of a human resource management policy on the teaching profession to improve the performance of education systems. The promotion of the concept of continuing professional development (CPD) is a key aspect and it is currently an indicator of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In France, CPD is at the core of contemporary policies aimed at teaching professionalisation. In Chapter 16, the state-of-the art of teacher professional development in France is drawn up in perspective with international experiences.
