ABSTRACT

An unprecedented and unprepared situation, for which the medical fraternity was overtly unprepared, and the governments were unarmed. The Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a complete standstill in the year 2020. While the effect was evident on all segments of society, the underprivileged section and street vendors, cobblers, construction site workers, auto rickshaw drivers were the most hit. How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect them? What was their condition during lockdown days of 2020? How are they planning their future now – be it financially or otherwise? All these questions remain to be investigated. This paper aims to analyse the vulnerable section of Indian society during the pandemic and how they expect to rise to the challenge. The case studies are real and present a first-hand account of the adversities of the people.
