ABSTRACT
This chapter briefly describes current operational and tactical trends in global terrorism, including the increase in lone actors using easily available weapons (like guns and knives) or motor vehicles in their attacks. The discussion then turns to explore recent technological and ideological trends in the global terrorism landscape, including the use of social media by far-right extremists and global jihadist networks. Finally, the chapter concludes by briefly highlighting implications for future counterterrorism policies and strategies.
