ABSTRACT

The chapter is an attempt to show the role of Jasenovac concentration camp in the destruction of the people in the Independent State of Croatia, based on the partially revised 1964 census, “Victims of the War 1941–1945.” Based on the results achieved in the process of revising the list of names, the calculation and actually projection of the total losses of civilians in Yugoslavia, the Independent State of Croatia and the losses in Jasenovac Camp were presented. The loss suffered in Jasenovac is comparatively considered through the prism of the general suffering of the civilian population in the territory of the NDH during the war, and the suffering in other concentration camps, and everything is then compared with the demographic structure of the NDH population.
