ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the concept of the mandala in the work of two contemporary artists: Chrysanne Stathacos (b. 1951, lives in Toronto, Canada), who embraced Tibetan Buddhism in the 1990s following the death of close friends to AIDS; and Charwei Tsai (b. 1980, lives in Taipei, Taiwan), who became involved in the study of Tibetan Buddhism as a student in New York.
