ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the motivational factors affecting the period of migration from Bangladesh to Italy. The econometric model is developed to observe the association between motivational factors and the exploratory determinant variables. The results for the whole sample consisting of 300 households show the explanatory power of both long and short regressions. Finally, the multivariate analysis finds the significant push factors are social network, social status, social prestige, better marriage opportunities for migrants, and pull are factors heavily influenced by their relatives that already live in Italy, family reunification, frequent regularisation policy, integration policy, and citizenship opportunity.
