ABSTRACT

India has been identified as one of the top 12 mega bio-diversity centre of the world due to wide variations in climate, soil, altitude and latitude. The western Himalayas of Jammu & Kashmir state has a rich heritage of diverse medicinal plants, and these plants give access and reasonable medicines to poor people. This chapter attempts to understand the utilization pattern of these plants with identified selected background characteristics and their health care behaviour in Udhampur.
